About IBLens

IBLens gives IB students an honest, criterion-level read on their coursework before submission: Internal Assessments across 17 subjects, the Extended Essay, the TOK essay and exhibition. It started as a tool built inside one IB family — for checking our own student's drafts against the actual assessment criteria — and grew into a public product. IBLens is an independent project, not affiliated with or endorsed by the International Baccalaureate Organization.

How the grader works

• The grading engine carries the official assessment criteria for each component — names, mark allocations, band descriptors — including both EE rubrics (current 34-mark and new 30-mark May 2027) and the 2027 Psychology and Computer Science IA formats.
• Analysis runs on a large language model (Anthropic's Claude) instructed with the relevant criteria; every submission gets a criterion-by-criterion assessment with a predicted band range.
• Scores are AI estimates, not guarantees — real marking involves examiner judgement and moderation. The tool's job is to show which criterion costs you most while there is time to act.

What IBLens will not do

• Write, rewrite or edit your essay — feedback identifies weaknesses; the writing stays yours (academic integrity).
• Publish invented statistics or accuracy claims it cannot demonstrate.
• Sell your essays (Privacy Policy).
